Are you ready for HEROES???

Photo Sharing and Video Hosting at Photobucket

Is anyone else really excited for tonight? I have to admit, we only recently got the DVD of last season and watched the whole thing over several nights. Kris was always working last year and I just didn't start watching when it first started. We've had SO many people tell us how much they love Heroes that we had to give in and give it a try, and well...we're hooked. We watched the last 4 episodes last night and now we are thankful that we only have to wait until tonight to see what happens next. How did you all wait ALL summer???

Bazzy and His Hat

I need to do a "series" of Bazzy and his multitude of hats he loves to wear backwards right now. I've been meaning to take a picture of his happenin' fashion sense, and I finally did on Saturday. I get him dressed in the morning (LOVE this new shirt!) and then he finds some sort of hat to put on. Always backwards. :) Man I LOVE this kid!!!

The BOY and Mia

I'm starting to see the differences between little boys and little girls more and more every day now that Bazzy is 2. He does things the girls wouldn't have even THOUGHT about. For instance...about a 1/2 hour ago, Sebastian came to me with pieces from the girls little wooden doll stroller. "Why do you have those?", I asked.
Bazzy excitedly took me to the stroller to show me that he had disassembled practically the whole thing while I was in the laundry room! The girls have had that for 4 years and not ONCE did they try to take it apart! LOL!

He was very proud of his little self and then Mommy had to try to put it back together. Crazy boys! :) I'm sure this is very typical behaviour for little boys (right?), but I'm still new to this boy thing.

Mia wanted me to take a picture of her Scooby Doo tongue tatoo. Nice, huh?

It truly is never dull around here with these two yahoos. I told Kris I'm never letting Mia go to Kindergarten. I would miss her too much. I'm sure she won't care. Right? :(

I think I fixed it...

Hopefully you guys can actually WATCH the videos now. I tried to make them private, so they wouldn't be "public" on Youtube...but I guess that doesn't work. I'll try another one here to see if it works.

This is Sebastian showing off his new talking skills. I love hearing him talk. He has such a sweet little voice. He's OBSESSED with guitars lately. He also is ALL about "Dad-den" aka Daddy. Once Dad walks through the door, Mom is barely acknowledged. I guess it's good I get all of his attention the rest of the day. ;)

OK...hopefully this will work. Cross your fingers.

Attempt at a video

We're trying our hand at posting videos. I'm crossing my fingers that it will work. If so....be prepared for many, MANY videos of life in the country. :) Are you ready for that? LOL!

Here's the Baz-man after JUST figuring out how to ride his sister's roller coaster on our deck. When did my baby get so BIG?

Dislaimer: No animals were harmed in the making of this video. (Baz crashes into Otto at one point. Poor puppy. ;) ) Enjoy!

Happy Talk Like A Pirate Day!

Photo Sharing and Video Hosting at Photobucket

The 19th is National Talk Like A Pirate Day! Did you know about this very important day? :)

Kris and I remember this day EVERY year....partially because we both kinda like Pirates and partially because our good friend Todd's Birthday is on Talk Like A Pirate Day! We talk like a Pirate every year in honor of "The Todd". Happy Birthday Friend!!!

In honor of this special day ~ here's a Children's Pirate Song filled with exciting Pirate Lingo. Enjoy and Happy Talk Like a Pirate Day! ARRRRRRRR!!! :)

A Children's Pirate Shanty
by Mark "Cap'n Slappy" Summers
(can be sung to the tune of Monty Python's "I'm a Lumberjack and I'm OK" - or make up your own!)

Chorus
I'm a pirate! That I be!
I sail me ship upon the sea!
I stay up late - till half past three!
And that's a peg below me knee!

Yo Ho, my friends I have a tale
of treasure, plunder, sea and sail
my story's bigger than a whale
it gets so deep, ye'll have to bail.

Chorus
I'm a pirate! That I be!
I sail me ship upon the sea!
I stay up late - till half past three!
And that's a peg below me knee!

I like to fish, I like to fight
I like to stay up half the night
When I say "starboard" ye go right!
Me ma, she says, "Ye look a fright!"

Chorus
I'm a pirate! That I be!
I sail me ship upon the sea!
I stay up late - till half past three!
And that's a peg below me knee!

I've got no hand but that's me hook!
I pillage stuff but I'm no crook.
Me booty's in this chest I took.
They'll write about me in a book!

Chorus
I'm a pirate! That I be!
I sail me ship upon the sea!
I stay up late - till half past three!
And that's a peg below me knee!

And that's all there is to this song.
I hope it hasn't been too long.
A pirate's life might just be wrong
So grow up nice and big and strong!

Chorus
I'm a pirate! That I be!
I sail me ship upon the sea!
I stay up late - till half past three!
And that's a peg below me knee!

The Costume Contest

After all the running by the weiners today...it was time for a Costume Contest. These are a few of our favorites.

We were in debate as to whether these little guys are supposed to be Corn on the Cob....
or are they supposed to be Corn Dogs? What do you think?

A Cowboy and a Cowgirl. Awwwwww.

This dog obviously feels pretty. She even posed for the camera. Look at those little boots! :)

This was our favorite. These two little doxies are dressed like cowboys/ horsies and they are pulling a wagon filled with a can of Franks and Beans.

GET A LONG LITTLE DOGGIE!
How cute it that!?!

The Kiddos at the Race

Here's everyone with Hobbes. One of the only times they were all still at once!

Katryna and Sofia helping to keep track of the Baz-man. He is EVERYWHERE right now! Not that I should be surprised, but little 2 year old boys are awfully active! :)

Mia wanted to walk Hobbes most of the day. She loves her puppies!

Sof and Bazzy mostly wanted to just run in the grass behind the race track. It ended up being a gorgeous day, so I was happy they could run off some steam.

Katryna holding Hobbes. She's wearing a really cute dachsund shirt...but
unfortunately it's being covered up by a dachsund.

The Running of the Weiners

It was the 17th annual Running of the Weiners today in a town near ours. Since we own a Weiner Dog....we HAD to go! :) We took Hobbes, but he didn't race because we just weren't sure how he would do. He had a great time running around, sniffing dogs, and eating treats. Weiner dogs are such simple creatures. ;)
So how does a Dachsund race work?

Each dog had to have 2 people there for them to race. One at the starting line and one at the finish. These two dogs are very excited to start the race.

The announcer counts down and they release the weiner dogs. Their owner at the opposite end is yelling and jumping like a crazy person to make their Dachsund come to them as quickly as possible.

Some weiner dogs were still puppies and it took them a little longer to get ALL the way to the other side. This little guy was about the cutest thing I've ever seen in my life!

The older weinie dogs were ALL business and they took the racing very seriously. These guys are almost to the finish line...

...and the race is over. A cloud of dust is all that remains from the running of the weiners. All dogs are back with their owners.
What a funny event. I love goofy things like this and the kids had a ball. Maybe next year Hobbes will be racing too. Let the training begin!

Our New Nephew

Keaton is such a CUTIE!!! I'm so thankful we were able to visit him today. The girls were in all their glory being able to hold their new cousin...and I must say I enjoyed it a TON myself. I love babies! :) I think I'm definitely going to enjoy this new Aunt "roll". The new Mommy and Daddy are doing great and we're hoping it won't be too long until we can see them all again. Isn't he cute??? :)

I'm an AUNT!!!

Photo Sharing and Video Hosting at Photobucket

I'm SO excited to announce that Kris's sister gave birth to a healthy baby boy named Keaton today! We're off to visit him tomorrow (pulling girls out of school and all. TOO exciting to miss!!!) and I can't wait to hold him and tell him all about his new favorite aunt! ;) The girls are bursting at the seems to see their new baby cousin too. Sebastian will have another boy in the family to play with. About time! :) I'll post pics if I get the OK....but until then~ I have to say it one more time. I'M AN AUNT!!!!

infestation

So our outside EVERYWHERE has been taken over by grasshoppers. I don't hate grasshoppers, (or "hoppers" as Bazzy calls them), but they are literally everywhere and it's starting to remind me of a plague! Yikes!

I decided to grab my macro lens and snap a few pictures, in the midst of all the kids and neighbor kids that were over as usual. They're actually a beautiful color, aren't they?

Kris of course had to explain that the grasshoppers little mouths are actually really low on the front of their heads...but to me~ this little guy is smiling. Mia named him George.

It was BEAUTIFUL weather today and we had fun doing lazy happy kid stuff....like making wishes while blowing on a dandylion.

Sebastian had just finished making the "hoppers" jump in this picture. One jumped really high and he just couldn't quite figure out how it did that. I love these days! :)

Save a life TODAY

I learned about this organization last year and I just think they are amazing. Love Without Boundaries helps orphaned children in China get vital surgeries that they need (many to survive!) and also provides education and other resources. Our family donated money last month for a little girl to have heart surgery and it was such a fulfilling thing. A lot of these children will die, simply because China doesn't have the money or resources to provide surgery if the funding isn't available. I know it's hard for us to imagine this, living in a country where no one is turned away if they need medical help. Sadly, that's not the case in most countries.

On their blog today, they said that their funding is so low that the hospital staff had to turn away a child that needed heart surgery. This means, that child probably won't survive. :( The great thing about sponsorship of these surgeries, is you can give as much or as little as you can...and if lots of people donate (even 5 or 10 dollars)...the surgery will be funded and the little one is quickly taken to the hospital. I've spoken with one of the women who runs this organization (all volunteers!) and they are amazing. They are only doing this to help the children. I have Love Without Boundaries on the side of this blog under my Favorite Sites and Blogs. Go to the one under Favorite Sites to Visit and click on How to Help. Then click on Sponsor a Surgery and it will bring you to pictures of the children that are waiting for surgery. If there is a child that is in critical need of a surgery, they will post that child first because they need to get to the hospital ASAP. They've had so many critical/urgent kids lately, that I think that's why they are having trouble raising the money. :( People donate from all over the world...so it's amazing to watch the "amount needed" continue to lower and lower.

What a great feeling to know you helped to literally save a life. If you can, please donate today. There's a little one on there right now that is in critical need of a very expensive heart surgery. I'm going right now to make a donation. If you look at their blog, a lot of times you will see info about the little ones who have had their surgery and how they are doing. Ok, I've "preached" enough. ;) I just get so excited when there's a way to make the world a better place. Even if it's just one child at a time. :)

Dancing Queen

Another first...Mia started dance today. This is her first official dance class.
She is taking beginning ballet and tap. She's in love with her purple leotard and new ballet shoes. ;)

Maybe she thinks she's going to learn to "walk like an Egyptian?" (Sadly, she probably has never heard that song. I'm SO a child of the 80's.)

Everyone has to get in on the dancing fun. Katryna and Sofia start dance next Monday. Katryna will be taking Hip Hop and Sof will be in Ballet/Tap.

I have no idea if Mia has the coordination to be a talented dancer, BUT I know she won't be shy on stage...so she's got that going for her! :)

My Little Preschooler

I can't believe my little goofball started Preschool today. I've been dreading this day for awhile, but it has finally come and Mia was WAY excited!

Of course we couldn't take a "normal" picture for the first day of school. I guess that just wouldn't be Mia though, would it?

She insisted I take a picture of the BACK of her backpack. She loves ariel and I was excited to find the backpacks on sale at the Disney Store. Happy Mia. Happy Mommy.

This is Bazzy yelling "Meee-Ma", as he lovingly calls his sister, while she was heading into her classroom. Bazzy isn't going to know what to do without his sidekick! :(

All ready to go in! When did she get so big???

She got her name tag and that was that. She gave Mommy and Bazzy a kiss and said "see you later." I'm happy this is only 3 afternoons a week. It's a little too quiet around here.

How To Tick Off a Bull

One thing I definitely learned from my time at the rodeo this weekend....never try to jump over a bull. Especially a crabby bull! This bull wasn't happy to begin with. He'd just finished throwing someone off of his back and now these two einsteins were trying to jump over him from a barrel. I think "Bully" (as I like to call him) decided these guys needed to be taught a lesson.

Bully was not being cooperative about heading back to the pin...so one of the rodeo clowns decided to get cocky and stood up on this barrel in an attempt to jump OVER Bully.
Rodeo clown guy didn't jump quite far enough, and Bully gets him from underneath with his giant horn covered head. Rodeo clown guy went flying and hit the ground and wasn't moving. (The ambulance people, who were standing next to me while I was taking pictures, were definitely on alert at this point!)

Second Rodeo Clown guy realizes his buddy is hurt because he just tried to JUMP a bull (surprising they didn't think this over a bit more, aye?) ...so he distracts Bully and gets rammed right in the behind by a now even MORE ticked off bull! This guys also goes flying and hits the ground and isn't moving. (Ambulance people are now starting to quickly gather their supplies)

Bully proudly walks away, feeling he's shown these guys a thing or two.

Both Rodeo Clown guys slowly get up...make sure all their "parts" are still there...and then stagger over to each other to give the other a big high five. Bully will probably be disappointed to see these two back again...but hopefully their bull jumping days are over. I kinda thought Kris would be reading one or both of their x-rays that night...but they were VERY lucky! Maybe next time. ;)

Mutton Bustin'

Never in a million years did I ever think I would be watching my children Mutton Bustin'! They invited the 5-10 year olds to come down into the arena at the rodeo and try to get ribbons off of these sweet little goats that were madly running for their lives. Katryna and Sofia thought it sounded like great fun, so they happily scurried down to the arena and were Mutton Bustin' with the best of 'em!

Sofia was way more competitive in this than I think we have ever seen her before. I think she was just as excited to pet the goats, but she really took the ribbon fetching thing seriously.

Katryna ran like crazy, but the goats were just a little to quick.

Sofia finally made it to one of the goats, and this nice man helped her to untie the ribbon from the goats little leg. She ran her little heart out and JUST missed getting 3rd place. Shoot.

Katryna was excited to have "won" a water bottle,
which she will be bringing to school to fill with water during snack time.

Sofia was also excited about her water bottle, but more excited that she got to keep the ribbon that had been tied to the sweet little goats leg. I'm sure that's not the cleanest ribbon in the world, but I didn't have the heart to take it from her. Go Sof! My little Mutton Buster. ;)
